New Dragons

Since I am getting used to the new Windows (Windows 8), I figured I would try to put some new Dragons in here for others to see.

If you all don't remember I am a big Dragon fan that is why I have a page here on the blog dedicated to them.

So here are some new Dragons:

Mild changes to pages

Today, I am keeping it very simple.

If you haven't noticed the background has changed.

It took me a little while to get it to fit and it isn't EXACTLY what I wanted but it is a start.
Sometimes teaching yourself how to work all this stuff is the best way, yet in doing so you must live thru some mistakes, or Close to what "I" wanted.

This is the original picture I wanted in the background:

But of course the thing came out all tiled and mix matched and just did not look good at all.

So I played and stretched it only to be told that..... Well, it was to BIG!

I played around some more, shrunk it and added a few stars in the background, which gave me this:

That still didn't fit or work exactly so I had to cut part of the bottom out and a little from the back and this is what I got:

Notice the big Difference in the picture versus the original -- but still I got my Dragon as my Background picture.

Took many many tries to get it to this point and so it almost fit perfectly.

Practice makes perfect!

Since I am back and looks like "running" (here on the blog at least.... LOL) according to my usual self, I decided to put something New up in the background.

Oh, there is another change I have made recently but wont say anything about it for awhile as I want to make sure I am Back and Back for Good.

A New Dragon

Something simple on Anything at Anytime today.

I started Playing a cheesy free game on Facebook called "Dragons of Atlantis".


Hey, by now if you haven't figured out I LOVE Dragons, I don't know what to say.

It is a time consuming game but since I get to "Grow UP" my Own Dragon, well, I couldn't pass it up.

I figured I would post the Pictures I have taken of him so far as he Grows.

So, without further ado:  Strike Fang

I started with nothing
When I could afford it I got Strike Fang's Egg

Cute little fella after he hatched
only problem was he liked to chase the Squirrels around

With all the Feedings and care
he rapidly grew into a Teen 

Now he has Grown into a "GREAT Dragon"
He still has a bit of Growing to do
and I need to Train him to wear his Battle Armor
but that will all come with time.

I hope He enjoys all the other Dragons that will be around him here and all of those that I will continue to bring in?
He does have a little bit of Attitude and He still likes chasing after Squirrels, just more of a Problem now as He is so much bigger and his tail tends to take out parts of buildings when he is running after them.

There be More than One Dragon out there!

Anything at Anytime mentioned a couple of days ago that I had gotten another Letter from Tomas.

Well, it appears Tomas is getting into the thick of things and the Expedition is getting a bit.... hmmmm...... Interesting.

What can I say?


Greenland has been an Experience, that is a Certainty!  With the way things are going I could definitely use someone with some of your "Skills".  


Have anyone you could Recommend?  
If so, you can send me the info at my Old, Old address from ages and a day ago.  You know the One, the one that you figured out with the "PM" before my name.  They still get my mail sent to me and get it to me rather quickly I might add.


You will understand, I think, as I get more into what is (or has been by the time you read this) going on.


I have sent a few pictures and will explain them during the letter as I organize my thoughts.

The first one is a picture I found as we were leaving Prum and I deciphered all the things around the frame of the Picture.  The original namers miss named the Dragon.  This is an early Rendition of Frozen Hell from back in the dark ages.  Even though the "Talent" leaves much to be desired I believe it still is a very Imposing image for the day.


     Even back then it appears that FH had a thing for mountains.


One thing I noticed in that picture, something that has made me think about FH.  The "Mane".  Something itching my mind and I can't scratch it out.


Anyway......


As you know we were going to investigate if Frozen Hell maybe around the Volcano that was Active recently.  Our "Hunch", I think, was Right!
And....
I think we got closer than we know.


We got to the monitoring station and everyone there was just sort of stunned.  Before finding out what was going on we got everything unloaded.  Then Sustera (Suz, and there is more about her) and I began to ask questions about why everyone was acting as they were.  Almost all of them were reluctant to tell us what had happened.  Apparently, they are so secluded out here that they don't like talking to outsiders that much.  


Eventually we got a couple of them to "spit it out" and found out that three days before we got there they had an "Encounter" that shook all of them to "the core".  I imagine that if I weren't expecting it something like this would shake me as well:

Can you believe it?  FH came out in the Open - in Daylight!


The guy that drew this said that he had followed it back to where it entered the mountain and the "script" he wrote above the drawing was etched into the stone above the cave.  Someone with First hand Experience, Can you Believe that?


Well, Suz and I talked him into showing us to the location.  We left the next morning and started out with everything.


We passed a Desolate yet strangely Beautiful Scenery at every step as we approached the Volcano.  There were signs of activity everywhere.  I even found a Scale - it has the appearance of a fine Polished Silver that is clearer than any mirror I have ever looked into, light weight, strong (took a hammer to it and didn't even smudge the sheen), and about the size of a pillow and a 1/2 inch thick.


Sorry,  First Scale I ever found!  It is a bit Exciting!  


As we were trekking along, heading towards the entrance, I had this perpetual feeling that we were being "Watched".  What makes it even weirder is that I felt, not as if someone was "Watching" us approach, but as if Someone were "Watching" or "Following" where we were going.


We ran across a small village, maybe ten or eleven families, called Valdestabard.  Really nice people and they made rooms for us for the night.

                     I really think we are on to something.  Pieces are falling into place unexpectedly
                     and fortuitously.  Its as if someone wants us to find FH.  ***


The Frogards (pronounced Fro Guards), the couple that housed Suz and I that night were a very enlightening couple and quite accommodating.  We were eating dinner at the table when I looked up from my place at the table and saw something on the mantle above the fireplace that sent a shiver down my spine, not a bad shiver but a shiver of Excitement!  I asked and took a picture of it:

 and then asked them where they had gotten it?  Apparently the Frogards and all the others in the village are the "Stewards" of FH's Caves when he is not present and when He is here they become his "Eyes".  This is the piece passed on to the "Keeper".


Svald, Heir Frogard, informed us that FH was no longer in the mountain caves as He had sensed anther's presence and that He, FH, has not been awake long enough to have gained full strength and do what must be done.  So it appears that we will be traveling elsewhere to find him.


Svald did take us to the caves the next day but via a passage under the village.  They blind folded us and moved us back and forth around the homes for about an hour before entering the passage.  Guess they didn't want us knowing outright where the entrance was.  Can't blame them after seeing the last picture.  


Once in the Cave Svald allowed us to look around and see some of what FH had there.  The things we saw!  


There was a side cave that looked........ Uncared for to say the least.  I asked Svald about it and it apparently housed documents and pictures of Ill Mannered Dragons.  Interested, I looked in and one wall held a Picture that commanded a closer look.  

Svald approached to see what I was looking at and then informed me that was a picture of Dultar (the man) and Delmonic.  FH and Delmonic had "Issues" with each other and that Dultar and Delmonic had vowed to see the end of FH and the reason FH had left was He had felt Dultar's presence.


I asked the very Obvious question.  The answer was....... intriguing.  Allegedly Delmonic tied Dultar's life to his own, thereby giving Dultar a form of "Dragons Fear".  


I know there is much to absorb in this letter.  


Now, I think, you may understand why I want someone with some of your "Skills".


Svald is calling me and says the Post is here and I must wrap it up to get this out.  He, Svald, is a good man and is trying to help us figure out where to head next and to mislead Dultar at the same time.


Will mail out another letter later but will code it somehow based on the first two letters and will provide the key related to my "PM" address.

Personally I have been Lax in the area of Dragon Hunting for the Dragon Page.  I guess I am going to have to get off of my Arse and go get me catch me some more Dragons.

Speaking of Dragons, I am hoping to hear from Tomas soon (it has been almost a month now) about how is Quest is going searching for "Frozen Hell".  I just hope he took the right gear with him when he went out into the Icelandic (or was it Greenland) wilderness.  He was always the rash one and took off without proper planning all the time.

Hopefully he will have more than realizing he is running a step behind his "Prize".

Anyway,

My Prize Dragon

Anything at Anytime would like to introduce you to My Prize Dragon - Heartfelt.

Heartfelt has been with me now since just before I left for Bosnia.

J and I had recently gotten engaged and she knew of my "Love" for Dragons.  My Birthday, Christmas, and departure to Bosnia were fast approaching and she wanted to get me something before we (my unit) left for Bosnia.

She could Not have found a better Dragon to get me!

His Coloring is Brilliant and Fantastic to behold.  Purples and Blues that just grab your attention when you notice him.

Like any Dragon, with age comes bumps and bruises.  His just tend to happen as things happen to me.  Odd That! but it is true.

Heartfelt, when he came to me did not have a name.  It took all of two minutes seeing him to Know his name.  If you look at his chest you will notice a row of three light blue colored scales down the center of his chest.  All three have the shape of Hearts.

Taking this Scale shape and the fact that the Woman I was to marry found him and acquired him for my collection...... Well, 1+1 =2 right?  Heartfelt was the only name he could have.

Heartfelt has a unique quality.  No matter where you are in a room his eyes follow you.  He is constantly watching over everything and everyone in the home.  He resides over my entire collection of Dragons.  His size in comparison to some of my other Dragons is small; however, his Stature and Poise is much Greater.

I have come to learn that the 3 hearts in his chest represent my 3 girls (J,D and E).  He wears them as Armor because of the purity of heart they represent.  With them he can and will continue on, no matter the situation and circumstances.

Anyway,  I just wanted to Introduce you all to Heartfelt as I have not done so and as My Birthday and Christmas approach again, I felt it only fitting that a Gift such as he be acknowledged brought forth to Shine.

P.S. Please forgive the Pictures as Heartfelt and Snuggles are in a Conspiracy against Pictures.  They hate cameras and it is hard to get them to stay still for good shots.  At least I was able to get these without TO MUCH Trouble.

An Update on Tomas' Quest

Anything at Anytime (Me, Myself, I, We, we) is going to continue Posting Letters from Tomas DumBass Snotbottom as they are received.  So, Guess What?

Yeap, Got another one Yesterday about a half hour after I posted.

Dan,

If I remember correctly I mailed out the last letter to you when we were leaving your old childhood stomping grounds in Germany.  Yes, that is correct.  Did I tell you we were headed to Greenland and destination(s) unknown in the Arctic?  If not, I did now.

You would not believe the difficulties we have had all journey so far.  If I did not know better I would figure someone (or Something) is conspiring against my (our - as you have a vested interest) endeavors to find "Frozen Hell".  

What is odd is the things going wrong and slowing us down are small things.  Things that by themselves should never really be an issue.  When we were leaving Germany three out of four trucks/vans had engine trouble (all three different little things; spark plugs, belts, and one even had a banana in the tail pipe that backed up the exhaust?).  Those added a good five days to the trip as we had to wait for parts.

Finally, back on the road again we got up to Bremen so that we could board the ship I chartered.  You would get a kick out of her.  Her name is Sierra Mist.  I know, reminds you of your Navy days onboard the Sierra doesn't it?  When I saw her name on the available rolls I had to have Her as I found it to be to fortuitous not, considering the Quest I'm on.

We got to Bremen, boarded and loaded everything on the Sierra Mist and ready to go and were informed by her Captain we would have to delay our departure for a few days as they were dredging the mouth of the Harbor for a few new deep draft ships that were to be coming in to port.  Eight days, due to delays before we even left Europe!  Frustrating is to mellow a word for what I am feeling about these things.

Out to sea at last!

The Sierra Mist is a Fine Lady.  As you know the Seas up north can get a bit "Hairy" to say the least but she has handled them well and I have only had to lean over the side a couple of times to Toss things - so to speak.  I have No idea how you handled being at sea as much as you were.  A new found respect there my Friend.  Can't wait to get back on land and be able to walk straight again.

We Finally got to Greenland and Again had to Wait to pull in due to the Volcanic activity they have had recently.  You may have heard about that in the news.  Well, apparently the Volcanic activity caused a bit of underwater land shifting and they were in the process of re-sounding the harbor to insure it could still handle all sizes of ships.  That was another two days wait.

I know, I haven't really told you much and we haven't made a big bunch of progress other than moving from one point to another.  With everything that has delayed us, I do consider it positive movement.  

We have got a guide and She (you would like her - but since your married - well, you know me ;) ) is a very knowledgeable person.  Sustera is her name but she has asked us all to call her Suz so that no one chops up the proper pronunciation of her name.  Suz knows a bit about Dragons and has done some small explorations on her own.  Her suggestion is to go to the Volcano that is/was recently active and start there as that specific Volcano showed no signs of activity prior to its eruption and that it just so happened to coincide with the launching of this Quest.

Well, I need to get this in the Post so that you know what is going on and where we are.  If things should happen that you do not hear from me for awhile be patient as Greenland is a sparse country and does not have availabilities to readily or quickly get word out.

I am telling you, sometimes I think he is baiting me to go join him as he knows I LOVE Hunting Dragons.  Not to Kill them mind you but to see them and find them.

Anyway, I guess we will just have to wait for more news to see what is Happening with him now.  Imagine the possibilities of seeing a Grand Ancient Dragon and maybe in or around an Active Volcano to boot.

Another Letter - from Thomas

Anything at Anytime Readers I/we received another letter from my Friend, Thomas Dumbass Snotbottom.

Dan,

Sorry it has been awhile since I wrote.  The day after I wrote last we started our travels and got to a place called Prum Germany via the trucks and roads.  If I remember correctly you said you lived there when you were a kid.  Nice small town and it has a very Friendly Barmaid downtown.

Anyway, from there we went a foot and traveled around for a couple of weeks.  We found several places that looked as if they may have been the residence of other smaller Dragons in the past and we found some very interesting things.  When we get a chance I will show you and we can talk about all of it.  So far it is turning out to be an interesting Search.

We did find one Cave system that used to be His!  Oh, Did I tell you in the last letter it was a Male Dragon? or Even mention his Name?  Well, it is a Male Dragon and when he was last written about Men were Calling him "Frozen HELL".  The Cave looks to have been used within the last 50 years.  There are some clues in the things left here that He comes back on a regular basis here and that he also has three other sites we may find him at.

So, as of right now I have not found what we are looking for but will keep you informed as I can.  We are headed now to the Arctic / Greenland region.  Apparently, He isn't going to make this easy for us, but then again We (you and I always loved those challenges).

Well, I told you all that as I heard from him I would let you all know and it looks as if it is going to be one Hell of an Adventure for my Friend (No Pun intended).

A Letter in the Mail / Post

Anything at Anytime, You never know what your going to get.

Yesterday I received a letter from an old friend, Tomas DumBass (pronounced Dumb Bass) Snotbottom.

Good God, I haven't heard from him in, it has to be 20+ years now.  Tomas and I became fast friends when I lived in Europe many years ago.  I had gone to a local Pub (of all places The Green Dragon) for my regular Pint or Two before calling it a night.

Halfway into my first Pint I overheard this young man (Hell, he is my age - young man my ass) talking about Dragons.  Well, I couldn't help myself.  I downed the remainder of my Pint and order two more from the Barkeep.

I took the drinks to the table this guy was at and told him I had overheard him and had a personal fascination with Dragons and asked if I could join him to talk Dragons.

From that moment on we became inseparable when we had free time, always stalking Dragons or chasing down rumors of them.
Many Adventures we had.

Anyway, Did I tell you I got a letter from him yesterday?  Duh, of course I did, that is what started this.  


It is a Fantastic Letter and If He is on to Who or What he thinks then it could change many different aspects of Science as we all know it.  I will let you Read what I got:

                              My friend, I know I have neglected our friendship for many years 

                         by not writing and returning your letters.  I have gotten all of your letters 

                         over time and that is part of why I haven't contacted you.  

                              You got married, wish I could have been there.  I can only imagine 

                         the party afterward.  Then I got the letters telling of the birth of your 

                         Daughters, You Lucky Man!  

                         For Your Daughters more than anything is why I have not been corresponding. 

                         I know your passion is strong for what we LOVE and I NEVER wanted to 

                         tempt you away from your Family.  

                               Sorry to hear of your illness.  I Truly am!  That is the Reason I  am writing 

                         you and decided to get back in touch.  I will not stand idly by when a True 

                         Friend is in Need and cares a burden upon their shoulders.  

                               You know that after you left Europe, I continued to search, listen, hunt and 

                         read any and all I could about Our Passion, Dragons!  Believe me I read many 

                         books and old Tombs and learned of many New Dragons we had not heard of 

                         or known of. 

                               When I got your last letter of you being sick with the Emphysema, 

                         something rang a bell in my head.  I didn't write immediately, I got your letter 

                         last Fall, as I plunged myself back into the books and Tombs.  I just knew I 

                         had seen or read something!

                         And I Found IT!!

                                Dragons of old had a condition that they (the Dragons) called 

                          "Short Breath."  from my studies it seems to be very similar to Emphysema, just 

                           in Dragons.  

                                 Now there was No Cure; however, there was a Dragon that was said to 

                           have the powers to extend and improve the life noticeably in other Dragons 

                           inflicted with this malady.  I still think HE exist, just that HE has been in the 

                          "LONG SLEEP" for near 1300 years.  The last scrolls that mentioned him 

                           written in 732 A.D. and all things I have found on or mentioning HIM, place 
                           Him somewhere in the Eiffel Mountains (not far from where you lived as a child).  

                                 I have arranged for an expedition to begin a search and we start out tomorrow.  
                           I wanted to let you know your Friends here have not Forsaken You!  
                                
                                 I will write more as time permits.  Now, I must pack and rest a bit before we  
                           leave tomorrow.

My Anything at Anytime Dreams!?!?

Anything at Anytime goes OUT THERE!  Dreams!?!?

You see, I have had this dream.



Over and Over this dream plays around in my head at night.  Nine (9) out of the last thirteen (13) nights I have had this same dream or very similar variations. 
What is so Weird, Odd, or just plain "Nuts" is that the dream(s) revolve around this blog Anything at Anytime (yes, this blog you are reading right now).

Anything at Anytime, is not a major traffic draw blog.  It is a relatively new blog out there in the infinite space of the Internet and a bare fraction of a fractions fraction (if that) knows of its existence.

If you notice, in the column to the right of the body here you will see a "followers" tab that shows 51 followers.  In my opinion for being up and running for about a month and a half that's Pretty Damn Good.  Not great by any means, but a good start! 

Maybe it is wishful thinking, and with all that has happened in my life and our family life it very well could be just that.  A Dream that has latched on to a sub-conscious desire and has gotten stuck on the same track like an old record player needle stuck in a groove. 

OK, enough preamble and baloney! (besides I like my baloney with mayo and mustard on white bread)

The dream as I have said has repeated many times in the last two weeks. 
Basically it rolls around the the issue of followers and visits to the site.  The dream has me waking up to find a flood of comments and new followers.  I never see the numbers but my reaction is totally "WOW!"

Now, this site is not a money generator.  Yes, it does have advertisements and a click or two on occasion would be nice and maybe make a small contribution into the family funds, but the site wasn't started for that. 
I originally got into doing this blog to help my wife with a project for one of her continuing education classes.  I then figured "What the hell, keep it up." and maybe I might eventually get to where my writing becomes good enough to really interest people.

From the looks of it, it is starting to get a few people interested and I like what I am doing. 

But the Dream is still there and has been for two weeks now.  Am I missing something?  Am I overlooking that "Golden Link"?  Why is this Dream being so persistent?

Dreams have Power!  Dreams are what keep us going when things often seem the worst. 
They keep us striving to reach that goal, that one thing that we have always wanted to do, or have, or be!

Some Dreams are static, meaning they stay the same no matter what happens in our life, those dreams we build as a child and keep to our Dieing day; like being a Fireman, Police Officer, (or mine) an Astronaut.
Those we keep with us always and forever even though we reach a point that we know in reality it is not happening. 

Some Dreams change and change frequently.  Dreams like, hoping our child is born with no problems, hoping we provide for our families as we grow older.  They adjust as things change in our lives from day to day.  Where would we be without Dreams?

This Dream of many followers and visits all the time might just be fantasy, but then again it might be myself telling myself that I have found a "Niche" that I fit into and is right for me. 

Maybe, just maybe it is the Dragons tail and I have stumbled upon it and it does not know I am there.  If that is the case so be it.  I will grab that Dragons tail and hold on for Dear Life as I slowly crawl my way up to its back and can ride it through the never ending vastness of the Internet!

Sometimes Dreams can lead us to failure from misinterpretation and Sometimes Dreams can lead to Great and Wondrous things.  I would rather risk the failure in order to achieve the later.

Even if this is a repeating "Pipe Dream", I will still Dream.  Dreaming is for everyone, ALWAYS!

So Dream your Dreams and follow the ones you wish, because they are Your Dreams, not mine, not his, not hers, But YOURS!!!!

Keep Dreaming the Dream!  

Who knows....... it just Might come True!?!

Dragons, Really?

As the Title of this blog implies, I write about Anything at Anytime.

When I first started blogging a little over a month ago now I posted a comment about Dragons in one of the forums that I forage in for chats and an occasional inspiration.

The Dragons post was to find other sites and blogs about (of course) Dragons. Only a few others in the forum got into the discussion with me and it did not lead to what I was wanting; however, it did lead to some serious discussion about how or what and if Dragons could really exist.

Now, we all know that there has never been found the fossil of a Dragon. No true definitive that says, Dragons really existed. There are many things that Science says existed or expects may have existed but have no real proof that they did: example the killer sperm whale was a suspected species, (which recently they have found a skull and have since named the species Leviathan Melvillei (after the author of Moby Dick Herman Melville)).

I therefore am proposing a simple hypothesis of Dragons: The bones are thin and hollow, like birds (in order for the weight to be low enough to allow possible short term "flight"), covered with strong muscle to protect the bones. That Dragons processed the gases we breath differently in such a way as to allow storage and heating of specific gases that would allow for Lighter than air flight. A few examples I would use here would be to look at all whales in general and the way they store oxygen for long dives and Lung Fish that can breath outside of water or bury themselves in mud as the water sources dry up in order to await the next rainy season.

Going back and reading stories on Dragons you find that the larger they got the less often they took flight.  That would tend to hold true with life in general, simple look at us (people) as a prime example: the larger we get we tend to be more "slothful",  muscles have to work harder to support the weight, joints stress more supporting the weight, and in the process we don't do as much which in and of itself tends to cause our muscles to not perform as they would under normal circumstances.  Breathing becomes harder and therefore does not provide the right mix of gases our body needs to do things consistently or that we use to do.

What if Dragons were a member of the Raptor family?  Science has show that the Raptor family is related to birds of today.  What is to say that there may not have been an evolutionary mutation that caused certain breeds (kinds) of Raptors to grow wings as their food sources shrank and required them to range further and further to find good food sources?
