I took part in that! Week 1

Since it is Sunday, I figured to keep this simple with something that just might become a regular thing here.

Something I hope you can All say "I took part in that."  (You know, that looks good for the title!)

So a quick little bit on how "Anything at Anytime" has done this week on the World Map.
What you see below is a "snip-it" (a program in the accessories of Windows 7, basically a drag and size screen shot cutter that is so simple to use) of the Google Analytics map for "Anything at Anytime" Blog.

I think we (you and I) have had a Fantastic 1st Week.  As you can see on the map the Biggest Circle is in the United States and that is here in El Paso.  That Circle represents 52 visits.  Out of those 52 visits 25-30 were my visits (you would expect that as I view everything once I have posted in order to make sure it all Looks good).  So we (you and I) can see the true numbers I will use 30 as my visit count.

In the Lower left corner you see the 181 total visits minus my 30  means 151 visits from across the world.  Truly not Killer numbers.  For a First week,  Fantastic numbers!!!!!!!  So Look at the map and see where you are:

Now we can all work on this together and see how full we can get the map.  As you can see we are spreading across the map, now it is just a matter of telling others.

Any Suggestions on what this Weeks Goal should be?

Looking forward to us connecting around the Globe!

Not to mention More followers would be nice.  (hint, hint, nudge, nudge)

Thank You All for a Great week in my opinion.

A Last Grand Adventure of Youth

This is going to be a bit different so I need to set a few things straight before getting into the story.

1.  I Love Dragons - have since my early teens and I have a bunch of them around my part of the house (roughly a 2'X2'X8" shelf/cabinet) (what do you expect the guy always gets the smallest section when in a house full of "Girls"!!!!!)

2.  When I was younger I drank like a fishy sailor (what am I talking about I was a sailor a few months after this happened)

3.  I Love Castles - the old European fortress Kind - of course the ones you always associate with -- you guessed it --- DRAGONS

4.  This all happened 22 years ago come this Sept. so I may not get everything right and all people can have complete denial rights.  There will only be One other name mentioned in here and He will Have complete denial rights with his folks if they read this.

5.  And if you haven't figured it out yet this little bit is about A Dragon, A Castle and Drinking.

6.  This was inspired by a gentleman in wales that I spoke with yesterday and brought back memories.  Tip a Pint of Welsh Bitters back for me tonight please.

A LAST GRAND ADVENTURE of YOUTH

It started out in a place called Hessich Olendorf Germany (spelling may be off on the town name) back in 88 (yes for you younger ones that is 1988).  I had just spent the summer with my folks in Germany and was in that no mans land we find ourselves in sometimes in our late teens.  Just Bombed at College and not knowing or having a clue as to what or how I was going to do anything.

One day out of the blue I got a burr under my saddle and do not remember exactly what triggered it but I went down to the main US base there in Frankfurt and decided to Enlist and of all things in the Navy.  Up to that time in my life I had lived around Army and Air Force and had no clue about the Navy.

Anyway, when I got back to my folks place up north, I let them know I had enlisted.  Really, still to this day not sure what the reaction was.  Sort of a mix of WTF and Congrats.  During the discussion we had I decided to take the money I had saved and take a vacation (holiday - for my European friends) and visit family friends that are actually family (you know those friends that are not family but once you become true friends they become family).

Well, I called and set it all up with them, went and got my Euro Pass for the Rails and Commenced my journey.

Chris Dugdale (who was the oldest in the friend family) met me in London and we had a couple of interesting days in London and I actually stayed in my first Hostel and no it was nothing like those freak movies.

After a couple of days we boarded the rails and headed for Cricceth in Gwyenned (sp?) Wales.  On the way we stopped at a Family Friend of theirs near Worcester (I think), and had one of the most Fantastic meals, Man this lady could cook and the meat just melted in your mouth.  Then they took us to their local pub so they could "Show off" the American.  No money out of my pocket that night, boy was I toast!!!!

The next day we get on the rails again and go and get several beers, larger, suds whatever you want to call it.  Oh and when I say several I mean Several.  You know those little tables between the seats on trains, can to can to can covering the entire length and width of the table it was nothing but cans.  By the time we got to Cricceth we were goners.

This is where it happens, in Cricceth

Cricceth is a quaint little village on the coast of England and has some of the most beautiful scenery around that I can recall.  Not to mention that out on the Point is an OLD CASTLE flying the Welsh flag (white over green with a RED DRAGON overlaying the field).
Ha, you were wondering where the Dragon and Castle were coming in, now how do I work them in? You'll see.

The next day we wander about the village stopping and meeting and being introduced to everyone.  Had a Good day and soon to find out a better and worse night.
Chris and I ran into friends of his and they invited us to join them at one of the local pubs and we had a repeat of the previous night..... again No money out of my Pocket.  While playing billiards (pool for us Americans not educated in the game) and putting down a few pints of bitters, the subject came up that I liked Castles and Dragons.  Well, the discussion got pretty lively about the old tales that the Dragon still lived in that Ole Castle on the point.  An he only came out wot to bugger yanks like me!!!  We all had some good laughs at that and a few more pints and of course a few MORE pints.  By this time I was ready to go show that Ole Dragon what us Yanks was all about.  The bravery of Drink (smirking and remembering).

Well, it was getting about closing time for the pub and we all went up and bought a couple extras, they all knew him and he was kind to the Yank and let us take them out with us on the honor of not driving.  We did not drive.  But we Ran like hell to the Gates of the Castle!!!!

You can figure where the conversation was with us at the gate of the Castle.  I am pretty sure at that time that we all KNEW there was no DRAGON but then again We were all Certain the Dragon was there.
We got one guy up and over the fence, and then another and then another until I was the only one left on the other side.  Here was my dilemma, I am an American in England about to "Invade a British Castle" to find a Dragon,  what kind of punishment would I face if caught???????
In my state of Drunken Bravery I said to hell with it the Yanks is a coming and was up on top of that fence before you could blink.  The getting down was the problem...... it was a crazy drunken state of 20ft (in reality all of maybe 8ft) but drunk and up there man it was HIGH.  I jumped and about halfway down I knew I was in trouble....  my balance shifted and I landed funny and to catch myself when my feet hit I pushed and boy did I push.  Like a defensive lineman in American football or those guys in a proper Scrum in rugby I Launched myself........ straight into a ROCK WALL.  The Rock Wall WON hands down.

Talk about sobering up a crowd.  In an instant we all knew the Hunt was over, I had a gash in the top of my head and it was bleeding profusely.  We finally got me over the wall and back to Chris' mom and dad's house.  She was up!  Saw the bleeding and was all over us like you know what.  We had it figured out I jumped out of the way of a car because I forgot that the English drive on the other side of the road and I fell and hit my head on a Rock Wall.  See almost all Truth.  Just fudged where and why about the jump.  She patched me up and to this day I still have that scar.

And even though I never got to see my Dragon that will always be a fond memory of A Last Grand Adventure of Youth.

Maybe, just maybe someday I will be able to take my wife and daughters to the place I hunted Dragons and had a Blast.

Good Morning to One and All

Yesterday was a Banner Day

The Perfect Cup of Coffee

The Perfect Cup of Coffee

How does one go about making the perfect cup of Coffee?

Well there are several steps in the process:

1. You must have coffee beans or ground coffee of a flavor you like.

2. You must put these grounds in a filter in the coffee pot. -- Do not forget the filter or you will get a ton of grounds in the coffee --

3. Water - now that should be self explanatory but don't overfill the coffee pot -

4. Turn on the Coffee Pot.

5.  Flavor to taste when done with a multitude of things:  sugar, milk, flavored creamers, actual cinnamon or vanilla.  Just a few ideas there

Mine is sugar (lots I have a sweet tooth), and milk.

Now here is where it is the Perfect Cup of Coffee
When I worked (note past tense) I would come home and sit down to talk to my wife and kids (if they were still up) to see how the day went for them and magically without ever having to go to the Kitchen to get my Coffee Lo and Behold there was a Cup of Coffee right there by my chair waiting for me.  Fresh Steaming and made just for me.

Now a days with me being home all the time I do my Best to try and Follow her example:

Boy, I hope she thinks I make her a Perfect Cup of Coffee?!?!?

The devouring of a Reese's Peanut Butter Cup

Today has been spent making comments in the Discussion board, drinking coffee, reading a few blogs, making a few comments and trying to think about what I would write about today.

Well, first and foremost I have a couple new followers and have had a few visits to add a new flag or two to my flag counter.  So welcome to the new followers and hopefully I keep you all entertained a little.

Now, I am going to try something here, something a little different.

First thing this is not, repeat NOT and advertisement but it they want to pay me for this they can.  LOL

The devouring of a Reese's Peanut Butter Cup

Unwrapping the individual Reese's PBC brings the aroma of a nice chocolate and my taste buds are already starting to buzz.
Have not even gotten it into my mouth for the first bite and I can already taste the chocolate and peanut butter contrast.  MMMMMMMmmmmmmmmmm

Taking off that little black wrapper, that is like a mini mini cupcake holder, little bits of chocolate escape or fall off of the Reese's PBC.
Can't let those go to waste have to saviour each one as the chocolate melts in the mouth.  MMMmmmm
Almost like a movie preview but better, better because in a movie preview you get most of the action there and the rest of the movie is filler,  but this is better Oh SO MUCH BETTER because you know that the experience you just had with those little bits of chocolate are just the beginning of tasteful bliss.......MMMMmmmmmmm

OHHHHhhhhhh Now comes the first bite that first true bite into Chocolate Peanut Butter heaven.  The difference between the two as you taste them, experience them exploding flavor all over your mouth.  MmmmMMmmmm

Then the next bite you feel it all again, and Again, and AGAin, and AGAIN!!!!!!!!!   MMMMMMmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Oh No!!!!!!!!!!!

Its all gone!!!!!!!!!!!!

I know where I am stopping on the way home tomorrow.

Some Previous work of Mine

Now this is a clip of something I have been working off and on for a little while now but figured for those out there that stop by and read a little bit might find it interesting and hopefully worthy of a comment or two or more.  This is a basic on where things could be going with the "2012" hubbub out there.  Just remember that as you get towards the end and the speculation.

So Please, keep in mind that what follows is something that is part of a work in progress:

I am no theologian and no scholar in religious beliefs. I am a well read and studied individual that has found acceptance in learning a bit about multiple things. Some of those things have been different types of religion and their perspectives on things.

What I am about to convey is that Mankind is as a child and life and religion are the Parents. Just follow my thought. You may agree and you may disagree, that is your right. At a later date I may attempt a deeper writing on this topic but for now I will keep it very basic and simple.

Try and think of things in basic history. We know that before Christianity that there were multiple various Pagan beliefs that revolved around the feminine or the “Mother” concept. The Mother that nurtures us as we grow from a bumbling, stumbling, crawling child. Encouraging us to stand and to walk and catch us in her arms when we fall. She kisses us on the cheek and pats away our tears when we scrape our knees and then tells us in that comforting voice “Its ok, go on try it again.”

Years later and Christianity arrives to supplement and surpass the “Mother” and place the Father in her place. The Father is there to Teach, to show us the path and Push us to our best. Letting us take our lumps and bumps and then asking us what we could have done differently and giving us advice for the next time. The Father is there to guide us down the path and prepare us to be on our own. Some forms of the Father are harsher than others and others more lenient. Each form the Father takes in today’s religions is all a basic form or preparation for Life. Then the Father Kicks us out of the house to face the world Alone. This is the HERE and the NOW.

What if those “seers” of our future were seeing our future but not comprehending what they were seeing? Not an End but turmoil before change. The Growing pains of a child, stepping beyond his/her Mother and Father, which are so aggravating and hurtful.

What if the things they were seeing were the times of the here and now with the difficulties we face not as a nation but as a world, not seeing beyond but only the now? I can only imagine how they would interpret the crowding, large cities, wars and war technology we have today. How would we interpret the future 500 yrs from now? Interesting and intriguing thought don’t you think?

Could it be that with all the devastation they saw they could not look further for fear of seeing worse? I believe that they stopped there because they found they could not look further because they could not “see” or comprehend the next step.

Not a Unification of the world but a communal understanding of all other people in the world. An Acceptance of all others no matter the differences. A Common Leap of the mind that all peoples share together. A New beginning. The Next step. A Leap into the unknown Together as Humankind.

North and South Korea

This is a touchy subject as it is currently going on and things could get very sticky.

This is not a pick on the current administration spot.

I am just wondering what others think of what should or could be done to do justice to those lost and avoid a potentially explosive situation?

Today is a New Day

Well, as I mentioned in the blog directories I have submitted to I have Later Stage Emphysema and life can be short or it can be long depending upon the progression of the disease.  Personally I want to turn be that "Dirty Ole Man".

Over the last couple of weeks I have been retaking all the test my Dr. used to diagnose me last year in order for us to see where I was/am a year later.  Last week I went in for the Sit Rep.  In 1 (One) year I have dropped 50% from where I was.

I am a father to some beautiful girls and a husband to a fantastic wife, and life goes on.  So, I will do my best to take care of myself and be here as long as possible so that I can be that "Dirty Ole Man".

Thus the title of this post:  Today is a New Day

Thinking

Oft times I find myself thinking about all kinds of things.  Sometimes to many things to keep them all in order.

I will do my best to keep from being a total loony toon here and try and keep each posting to a single general topic.

One thing for certain is that you nor I will ever know until it is posted and on here.  LOL

I will do my utmost to be a nice gentleman with all that I write and will do my darnedest not to be a dirty nasty (old) man.  (put the Old in pars because I'm not that old yet)

Since I am a man that is younger than I should be living with later stage emphysema there may be times you see me post things about how I am feeling because of it and how everything effects me with it.

This blog is going to be a means for me to keep my mind off of the BS and focus on the Family, as well as the Mundane that none of you can focus on until someone points it out to you.

So hopefully we can get some lively discussions from gardening (all varieties) to (yes, to those of you that know me) Rocket Science.

I hope to see plenty of people responding and suggesting other topics to discuss.

Thanks and Have a GREAT DAY
DanWins

P.S. -- at the bottom right hand of the page you will see a flag counter -- it tells you how many visits from the different countries I hope to get as many flags and visits as possible so pass it on to friends and family and they pass it on so that we/I can get a wide variety

TAKS TEST

Just a quick brag.........

My Daughters got their TAKS Test Results back and they got commended on all test.  Each one somehow managed to miss only one on each test and one got PERFECT in Science.

Congrats Girls from A Very Very Proud Father

Here is the First one to get things Rolling

Something that I have noticed over the years with people.

We all act as if everyone else "Owes" us!!!!
They don’t and we do.
You might be asking what I mean by that.

Simple, They owe us nothing and we owe them everything. If we all went about trying to be there for friends, family, and the occasional stranger life would be so much easier. Not getting all religious here but “Treat others as you wish to be treated” or in the biblical sense “Do unto others as you would have them Do unto you”. No truer words can be spoken, written or read.

Now I am not talking about making everything "Free" for the freeloaders out there.  I talking about those acts of kindness etc.. Those actions that we don't have to do but that the other might need to get going.

example:

That stalled car in the middle lane that is blocking traffic and is irritating the daylights out of everyone because they cant go.  Hey, just be nice, pull off to the side of the road and help them push it out of the way.  Four or Five people should be able to get that done in maybe a minute and then everyone is moving and on their way.  And if there are already people helping move it, Don't be an Idiot and blare your horn at them for backing up traffic, be patient they will be out of your way before you know it.

Another:

That person at the register in front of you is 9 cents short.  Don't grumble or moan under your breath because OMG they don't have the right change.  Just reach into your pocket and give them a dime and tell the clerk to keep the extra penny.  Moves everyone along faster and less stress on you and them.
There are 4 local stores that every time I go in and go shopping I always leave the pennies "to help out anyone short".  A couple of times that has been me and most of the clerks recognize me and say "Don't worry about it! You've left enough pennies over the years."  One of the Managers has even built up a matching fund.  For every penny that people leave as change she matches it at the end of the day.
And if you are 15 cents or less short you can dip into the jar for change.  I looked at the Jar the other day and it was 1/3 full.  This is one of those old Dill Pickle Jars so you know there is a bit of change in there.

You all know what I am talking about --- how would you feel to be either of the people there.  The car stalled in the middle of traffic?  or, You're just a few cents short but you could swear you had the right change?
So??????
Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.
They owe us nothing and we owe them everything.
Because we never know when someone will do something nice/helpful for us.
